2025 in review
Georgia went 11–1 in the regular season, avenged its only loss by beating Alabama 28–7 in the SEC Championship Game, earned the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye — then lost 39–34 to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl. The Bulldogs led entering the fourth quarter and lost, ending a 75-game streak of winning in that situation. They finished No. 6 in the final AP poll for the second consecutive year.
What it means for 2026
Two straight years of winning the SEC and losing the first playoff game has changed the conversation around the program. Nobody in Athens is worried about November. The question this staff has to answer is what happens in the last fifteen minutes of a game in January.
Injury report
Georgia does not release an injury report. Everything here comes from public reporting and coach availability comments — treat it as best available, not official.
The headline defensive transfer addition, from Auburn. Tore an ACL in spring practice and is expected to miss the season. A real problem for a defense that already needed more pass rush.
The Kentucky transfer was in line to be the No. 3 back after a promising spring, then suffered serious injuries in an ATV accident in July. Status uncertain.
Missed the Sugar Bowl and all of spring practice with turf toe. Georgia needs him healthy and rushing the passer more than almost anything else on defense.
A back injury limited him to nine starts in 2025. First-team preseason All-SEC when available, and Georgia's line depth thins out quickly behind the front five.
The four-star signee tore an ACL in December of his senior year of high school and has been rehabbing since. Reportedly recovering ahead of schedule.
Wilson (knee) and Walker (shoulder) both sat out spring practice. Both were full participants in fall camp.

To the NFL: Zachariah Branch (WR, led the SEC with 81 catches), CJ Allen (LB,
All-American and the team's leading tackler), Christen Miller (DL), Monroe Freeling
(OT), plus seniors Oscar Delp (TE), Daylen Everette (CB), Micah Morris (OL) and
Ray Guy Award-winning punter Brett Thorson.
To the portal: roughly a dozen players, including safety Joenel Aguero to
Ole Miss and offensive linemen Bo Hughley and Jamal Meriweather. Georgia had the
fewest transfer departures in the SEC.
SEC news
The SEC moved to a nine-game league schedule this season. Every team now plays only three non-conference opponents a year, which for Georgia permanently includes Georgia Tech.
The SEC put nine teams in the preseason AP Top 25 and half the top 10: Texas A&M at 8, Ole Miss at 9, Oklahoma at 10. Georgia is the highest at No. 3.
For the first time since 2008. Georgia visits Tuscaloosa on October 10.
Kiffin took over in Baton Rouge after LSU went 7–6 and fired Brian Kelly. Not on Georgia's 2026 schedule, but it reshapes the league.
The SEC now allows 105 scholarship players, up from a self-imposed 85 in 2025. Deeper rosters, more freshmen who travel.
Atlanta this year, Tampa in 2027, while EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville is renovated. First time out of Jacksonville since 1995.
